Evelyn R. Yeargin, BSW, MS, MSP
Evelyn Yeargin currently services as MHC’s Director of Advocacy.
Yeargin works with consumers, families, the community and case managers to increase their knowledge of consumer and family’s rights. Her focus is on educating the community on the disease of mental illness that affects one out of every seventeen adults according to the 2004 census. Yeargin also works with groups to provide affordable and least restrictive housing for persons will mental illness. She has been with MHC since it’s inception.
Yeargin served as the president of NAMI Nashville, TN and remains a board member. She also serves on the board of Mathew Walker Community Health Center, is a participant in The TN Dept. of Mental Health and Mental Disabilities State Wide Planning Council, Day on the Hill Committee, The Coalition for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Bridges to Care and Tennessee Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Faith-Base Services Advisory Committee. Yeargin received the 1999 Friend of NAMI from NAMI Tennessee as well as the 2002 Ambassador of Hope Award and 2003 Outstanding Services Award from NAMI Nashville, TN.
Yeargin received a bachelor degree in Social Welfare and a Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling from Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN. Yeargin also received a Masters in Public Service Management from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.
