Kim Smith is the Chief Financial Officer for the Mental Health Cooperative. Kim joined the company in April of 2009, and as such, is the newest member of MHC’s management team. Smith earned her B.S. in Accounting from David Lipscomb College and has been a Certified Public Accountant for 23 years. She has a broad range of financial management experience in both private and publicly- traded companies. She brings a unique skill-set to MHC; while her formal education is in finance, she has always worked within “customer-centric” organizations that have required her to apply her financial acumen to the process of adding value to internal stakeholders and consumers alike. Smith began her career as an auditor with Arthur Anderson and Company. From there she joined FISI-Madison Financial Inc., which was the country’s largest and most successful bank marketing organization at the time. During her tenure there the company grew from $40 million in annual revenues to over $200 million and her responsibilities evolved from Assistant Controller to Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations for Long Term Preferred Care, a wholly-owned subsidiary of FISI-Madison specializing in long term health care. Since then Ms. Smith has been heavily involved in a number of start-up and expansion ventures both from the financial and operational standpoint as well as in areas of marketing and strategic planning. Kim chose MHC as a career move because of her desire to contribute to a better world for those coping with issues of severe mental illness. She is excited about MHC’s mission and genuine desire to improve the quality of life for every consumer and is committed to doing her part to make operations as efficient and effective as possible.
